Willem Hawthorne Binney
Willem Hawthorne Binney is considered the leader of second impressionism. Binney’s bold, often pure colors and vibrant light focuses on the character of season in a setting and the changing play of sunlight.
Born Willem Orestes Hawthorne Binney but known locally as Benny, residents of East Calder often see him walk the neighborhoods studying simple walls and rooflines for the organic shapes he calls home.
